About the Sanctuary

The Ray of Hope Animal Sanctuary is a home for abandoned and rescued animals, run by Rod and Sue Wray in Badshot Lea. The sanctuary takes in the forgotten animals that have been disregarded by the people whom they rely on the most. Each year the RSPCA seek advice and help from the Sanctuary's owners. A place of safety is offered to ex-racehorses, donkeys, cats, dogs and rabbits - or any animal in need of a home - to live out the rest of their days. Most animals are unwanted because they are old - Rod and Sue will take on these animals who would be otherwise homeless.

Here is what Rod says about his sanctuary:

"About twenty years ago, I rescued a horse called Clara-Bay. She was twelve years old when rescued and stayed with us all of her life until she passed away at the age of thirty-two.

From that day on, Sue and I started rescuing and homing a wide range of animals, from cats, dogs and chickens to horses and goats.

Five years ago we called ourselves ourselves the Ray of Hope Animal Sanctuary. We went public, willing to take in any abandoned animals and care for them - willing to offer rescued animals a new life."

Unfortunately, looking after animals that nobody else will is not cheap: the sanctuary is kept running from the pockets of Rod and Sue and the kind donations of the public. Please consider making a contribution and helping to home and fulfil the lives of animals that would otherwise be lost.
